Little India, Brickfields in Kuala Lumpur


Little India, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.
Little India is the small part in Kuala Lumpur that is interesting as its representing Indian people who live in this area. The area fills with decorations with local Indian cultural motifs that can be seen everywhere here. Other than highly decorated house of worship, there are many merchants selling goods for Indian and visitors needs.

A visit to Little India will allow you to know more about how Malaysian Indian cultures that influenced by the Malaysian ways of lives. All over the area are decorated nicely with Indian’s motif arts from the pedestrian walkway, the gate, water fountain, sculpture and many other decorative found all over this place. It’s a short visit to India while you are here in Kuala Lumpur.

Although the area full with Indian cultural decoration motifs, many facilities available to suite different kind of visitors need. There are many restaurants to provide visitors with savoring foods not only for Indian visitors but also for all Malaysian or tourist include popular fast food restaurant. There also many shops selling goods from clothes to souvenirs and also wreaths can easily be seen here.


Located close to the main transport hub of KL Sentral, Little India can be visited by walking from there. You can take the LRT or monorail and walk down the road to Brickfields. Among the interesting structure that you can see at Little India are attractive street decorations, fountains and unique sculptures. You may also have the opportunity to feed the pigeons that can be found in this area.

Historic Building Masjid Jamek


Built at the confluence of two rivers.
The old mosque in the heart of city centre Kuala Lumpur known as Masjid Jamek, is the oldest mosque in Kuala Lumpur and still stand to this day. Located in the confluence of two rivers make it looks like it was built on the top of an island.

The historic mosque was built as part of the original complex of old buildings dating back to 1909 as well as Sultan Abdul Samad Building nearby. While the architect designing it was Arthur Benison Hubback with Mughal architecture that also apply equally as well as other buildings surrounding the area.

It’s strategically located with transport facilities of electric train’s stations the Kelana Jaya line, Sri Petaling line and the Ampang line. This makes it the most convenient location to visit. An array of attractions nearby includes Jalan Masjid India, Merdeka Square and Central Market.


The mosque always gets an attention from the government with refurbish works and additional areas to facilitate the requirements as needed. It is one of the important historical landmarks for Kuala Lumpur.

Kuala Lumpur Tower

KL Tower as a landmark of Kuala Lumpur.
Kuala Lumpur Tower (Menara KL) is one of the most important attractions in Kuala Lumpur which was opened to the public since July 23, 1996. It was opened by 4th, Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad on 1 October 1996. Since then, Kuala Lumpur Tower continues to be visited by many people, in addition to carrying out its original function as a telecommunications tower.

Kuala Lumpur Tower is the 4th highest telecommunications tower in the world with a height of 421 meters. Its construction began on 6 July 1992 and was completed in 1996. The construction phases are important because it does not use pilling system instead of 50,000 cubic meters of concrete was used as its foundation.

Aside from being a telecommunications tower, the tower also include observation deck that allows visitors to see the sights of Kuala Lumpur City from above. There is also a revolving restaurant that allows guests to dine and at the same time rotating 360 ​​degrees around the tower. It is not only a beautiful tower, but also provides beautiful view of Kuala Lumpur at night.

KL Tower also provides several other services including space held a ceremony such as corporate meetings and seminars, wedding functions, F1 simulator and few exhibitions again according to the season. Is a historical building built in 1894 which is one of the important attractions in this area, this building has witnessed many historical events that occurred at the site of which including the lowered of the Union Jack flag on August 31, 1957 and replaced with a flag for Malayan flag for independence ceremony.

The building was designed by the British architect AC Norman and assisted by engineers CE Spooner. Its unique design has become an icon of the city to this day. It is based on the architecture of Moorish and Moghul architecture. It comes with 3 domes were originally built of wood and brick, painted black. The dome was replaced with copper-clad dome as viewed today.

Sultan Abdul Samad building becomes main object for visitors to Merdeka Square in recalling the long history of Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia. This makes it the essence of your visit to the city.

National Textile Museum (National Textiles Museum)

National Textile Museum is open from 9 January 2010 the building was originally the headquarters of the Federal Malay States Railways (FMSR). It was later used for a variety of uses until converted into a museum in 2010. The building's attractive design gives the museums some extra unique features.

As the name implies, this museum displays interesting collections of exhibits, namely textile materials used by the Malaysian as a clothing material beforehand until now. The approaches used by the museum are also very effective with varieties of media including video, multimedia materials, printed materials, other than dioramas only. Guided tours are also available at certain times.

A visit to this museum by us found that the museum meet the criteria’s for the exhibition and educational center. It was also recognized with the award from the TripAdvisor with "Certificate of Excellence". Therefore it is another important attraction in Independence Square that we recommend.

KL City gallery is another interesting place to know more about the development of Kuala Lumpur history. It is also the location that houses the office of the Visit KL information counter. You can see a replica of the Kuala Lumpur City model built by Arch Kuala Lumpur.

Arch Kuala Lumpur is a company which produces merchandise for souvenir in the form of very attractive building replicas. In this gallery you will also have the opportunity to see the sculptors at work. At the end of the tour you have the chance to buy souvenirs that are sold in their gifts shop.

The building was also built by the same architect for the construction of the Sultan Abdul Samad AC Norman. What is obviously different is the concept used for the construction of a traditional English church and it was built in 1894.

The old building is fitted with attractive stained glass windows (stained-glass) together with its pipe-organ addressed to Sir Henry Gurney who was the British High Commissioner in Malaysia at that time.

Museum of Music

Museum of Music is one of the latest attractions at Merdeka Square and opened on 1 August 2015. It houses a variety of traditional instruments from various races in Malaysia. As well as the National Textile Museum, it aims to educate the public about the diversity of the art equipment used for entertainment in our country.

As well as other buildings in its surrounding this museum building is also part of the complex of old buildings that are hundreds of years old and designed by engineers with AC Norman with the concept Moorish and Mogul.

There are musical performances (busking) was held in front of the museum on Saturdays and Sundays and it is one of the interesting activity to watch because of its cheering atmosphere. In addition, there are also Malay gamelan performances. It is open daily from 9: 00 - 6: 00 with the entrance fee is free.
